VENOM COACH HOPES THEY LEARNED LESSON
Amarillo Venom head coach Julian Reese said not finishing off an opponent when they had the chance, nearly cost them last weekend. The Venom were up by 17 with 5 1/2 minutes to play at New Mexico last Saturday but needed a blocked field goal in the waning seconds to escape with a 57-54 win. Reese said the defense came through with several big plays on the Stars final drive before Donta Bright blocked the field goal attempt. Reese said they have to learn to close games out and not give an opponent the chance to come back.
The first-place Venom have an open date this weekend before a rematch against the Stars on Saturday, June 22nd.
